Ruth Perez joined the Brooklyn College Office of Recreation, Intramurals and Intercollegiate Athletics as an Assistant Coach for the Women's Tennis team in July 2011.
Perez is no stranger to BC Athletics as she is a former three-sport athlete at Brooklyn, spending two seasons on the Women's Cross Country team (2009 and 2010) and three seasons on both the Softball (2008-2010) and the Women's Tennis team (2007-2009).
In her three seasons on the tennis court, Perez accumulated a 28-15 record in singles action and a 26-16 record in doubles play. In 2008, she was named to the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Second Team All-Star at #1 singles.
Along with her tennis playing experience, Perez has also spent time coaching the sport, serving as a volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater, EBC/Bushwick Leaders High School, under head coach Ed Mason. As an assistant coach, Perez helped to improve player's skills, advised player's during matches and ensured player's success both on court and off court.
As a player at EBC, Perez was named team MVP (2006) as well as the Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) Girl's Player of the Year (2006).
Perez received her degree in Business Management and Finance with a minor in Marketing from Brooklyn College. She was also the recipient of the Class of '57 Award.
