Men’s Tennis player Johnny Rolando was selected as one of the Brooklyn College Student-Athletes of the Month for April 2008 based upon his athletic achievements and team accomplishments. He was a vital cog for a team that finished with a 7-1 mark in CUNYAC play.

Rolando, a sophomore Tennis player, fashioned a 12-1 overall record, and a perfect 8-0 mark in CUNYAC singles play. Versatile and energetic, Rolando saw time at number three, four, and five singles, and was a fixture at number two doubles with senior Metin Noorata. He was a crucial component to a team that won nine of ten matches during a critical late-season stretch. Rolando played valiantly in the team’s play-off loss to Staten Island, knocking off Kevin Williams 7-5, 6-0 in straight sets.

Head Coach Louis Gonzalez notes that “Johnny’s awesome forehand and explosive serve dominates his opponents into submission. He is the most exciting player to watch on the team.” Rolando is a Physical Education major who played tennis at Brooklyn’s Abraham Lincoln High School.
