Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team (5-3, 1-1 CUNYAC) rolled over St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn (4-4) 81-49 on Monday evening at Roosevelt Gymnasium.
The game began with the two teams trading baskets in the early going, neither team able to take a lead of more than two points. A three-pointer by Melissa Velez gave the Bears an 18-17 advantage with 8:23 left to play in the opening stanza. It would be the last lead of the evening for SJC, as BC floor general Eja Wong (Chatsworth (CA) / New York, NY) forced a steal near mid court and was off to the races, scoring a lay-up that started a 19-8 run that closed the half.
The Bridges started the second half up 10 points, but quickly doubled that margin as reigning CUNYAC Rookie of the Week Demi Quintana (Abraham Lincoln / Brooklyn, NY) parlayed a steal into a three-pointer that keyed a 10-0 Brooklyn run. BC extended their lead to as many as 33 points later in the period on a lay-up by Megan Davidson (St. Edmund Prep / Brooklyn, NY) and again moments later on a jumper by Joelle Laurenceau (Midwood / Brooklyn, NY). A trifecta by Danielle Kramer (Bishop Ford / Brooklyn, NY) provided the largest margin of the night at 38 points.
All 12 players who dressed for the game participated and scored for Brooklyn. Quintana set a career-high of 19 points, including a stellar 5-of-6 shooting performance from behind the arc. Wong dropped 14 points and was one of five Bridges with at least two assists. Priscilla Ramirez (Franklin D. Roosevelt / Brooklyn, NY) was the team's leading rebounder, collecting seven caroms. She also added nine points and three assists.
