BC Men's Tennis Defeats Rutgers-Newark, 5-4

Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Tennis team defeated the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers – Newark this afternoon in non-conference action by a score of 5-4. With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 1-2 on the season, while the Scarlet Raiders drop to 0-2 overall.

Brooklyn picked up victories in number 4 and 5 singles, as freshmen Judah Hirsch (Brooklyn, NY/Magen David Yeshivah) and Anthony Sideris (Astoria, NY/St. Demetrios) got their first career collegiate victories. Hirsch took down Nathi Kajpatanasilp in straight sets 6-1, 6-2, while Sideris downed Kendall St. Ange, 6-0, 6-1, in straight sets as well.

Hirsch also took home a victory in number 2 singles, teaming up with senior Jeffrey Deng (Oakland Gardens, NY/New Utrecht) to beat the duo of William Cheung and Kajpatanasilp, 8-3.

The Bulldogs started the match up 2-0, as the Scarlet Raiders forfeited number 3 doubles and number 6 singles, due to only having five players competing.

Brooklyn will be back on the courts this Friday, March 26th, when the Bulldogs will play host to CUNYAC rival York College. Match is scheduled for a 3:30 pm start.
