Brooklyn, NY----Announced by the City University of New York Athletic Conference on Wednesday, three members of the Brooklyn College men's tennis team earned Men's Tennis Postseason honors. BC freshman,
Giorgi Zhamutashvili, was named the conference's Rookie of the Year along with being selected as a First Team All-Conference performer. Brooklyn senior,
Allen Mardakhayev, joined Zhamutashvili as a First Team All-CUNYAC selection. In addition, sophomore,
James Walsh, received a Sportsmanship Team nod. All three helped Brooklyn to a 7-7 (4-2 CUNYAC) record on the season and a CUNYAC Championship Semifinal appearance.
Giorgi Zhamutashvili (Rookie of the Year / First All-CUNYAC)
- 6-5 overall record (3-2 CUNYAC) in top-flight singles.
- 5-7 overall record (3-2 CUNYAC) in top-flight doubles.
- Named CUNYAC Player of the Week and an earned an Honorable Mention for the week during the regular season.
Allen Mardakhayev (First Team All-CUNYAC)
- Second straight All-Conference honor and first as a First Team selection.
- 7-6 (4-2 CUNYAC) singles record with a 6-6 mark at No. 2 and a 1-0 record at No. 1.
- 9-4 (5-1 CUNYAC) doubles record.
- Named CUNYAC Player of the Week during the regular season.
James Walsh (Sportsmanship Team)
- First-year member of the team and stepped into a leadership role immediately.
- 8-6 (4-2 CUNYAC) singles record.
- 5-8 (3-2 CUNYAC) doubles record.
