Bulldogs Blank Gryphons, 9-0

Bronxville, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Tennis team shut down the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence College in a non-conference match today, 9-0. With the win, the Bulldogs improve their overall record to 6-5 on the season. 

Leading the way for Brooklyn were freshmen Anthony Chan (Flushing, NY/Archbishop Molloy) and Anthony Sideris (Astoria, NY/St. Demetrios) and senior Jeffrey Deng (Oakland Gardens, NY/New Utrecht), who all took home victories in doubles and singles action. 

Chan and Sideris teamed up to defeat Ahmed Kehr and Alberto Sandoval at number 1 doubles, 8-5, while Deng joined junior Vesna Tan (Brooklyn, NY/New Utrecht) to down Nathan Thompson and Robi Sampson at number 2 doubles, 8-2. 

Chan later beat Kehr, 10-5, at number 1 singles, while Sideris picked up his second victory on the day at number 4 singles, 10-3, over Thompson. Senior Kristoffer Flores (Ozone Park, NY/St. Francis Prep) chipped in with a win at number 3 singles against Sandoval, 10-3. 

The highlight of the day came at number 5 singles, as Deng showed great determination to outlast Sampson 10-9 (7-5), in a hard fought match. 

Brooklyn will be back in action this Monday, April 19th, as the Bulldogs will host the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice in a CUNYAC match. Game is slated for a 4:00 pm start.
