Brooklyn, NY --- Seniors
Kristoffer Flores (Ozone Park, NY/St. Francis Prep) and
Jeffrey Deng (Oakland Gardens, NY/New Utrecht) concluded their Brooklyn College Athletic careers with wins in leading the Bulldogs past the Raptors of Bard College, 6-3, this afternoon. Brooklyn ends the regular season with an overall record of 7-7, as the Bulldogs will now turn their attention toward the CUNY Athletic Conference tournament. With the loss, Bard falls to 2-7 on the year.
Flores helped set the pace for the Brooklyn victory recording wins in both doubles and singles matches. Teaming up with junior
Qing Tan (Brooklyn, NY/FDR), the duo quickly downed the pairing of Alex Vladoi and Raed Ibraheim, 8-1, at No. 3 doubles. Flores would add his second victory of the day at No. 4 singles defeating Greg Gainey, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1, in a hard-fought match.
Deng cruised to a win at No. 3 singles, easily taking care of Michael Orsini, 6-1, 6-1.
Freshman
Anthony Sideris (Astoria, NY/St. Demetrios) picked up a pair of wins on the day as well, taking home victories at No. 2 doubles and No. 5 singles. Sideris paired up with junior
Vesna Tan (Brooklyn, NY/New Utrecht) to beat Orsini and Gainey, 8-3, and later defeated Vladoi, 6-3, 6-2.
Q. Tan also added a win at No. 6 singles, beating Ibraheim, 6-0, 6-1, to go along with his earlier win at No. 3 doubles with Flores.
Brooklyn will be back in action next Saturday, May 1st, as the #7 seeded Bulldogs will square off against the #2 seeded Hawks of Hunter College in the Quarterfinals of the CUNYAC Men's Tennis Championships. Match is slated to take place in Flushing, NY at the National Tennis Center beginning at 11:00 am.
