Men’s Soccer Drops Heartbreaker to Medgar Evers, 4-3, in 2OT

Box Score

Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team dropped a nail-bitter in its regular season finale to City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) and borough rival Medgar Evers College, 4-3, in double overtime tonight at Aviator Sports Complex.

Medgar Evers scored the game-winner with just 20 seconds remaining in the second overtime period.

For BC, who led 2-0 at halftime and then retook a 3-2 advantage late in regulation, junior forward Steven Favaloro scored all three goals.  Despite the outstanding individual performance, Brooklyn could not withstand the Cougars second half surge, as Medgar got two goals to tie the contest, and then a third to send it into overtime.

Favaloro's first score came on a rebounded shot in the 24th minute of the game.  Minutes later, he took a pass from goalkeeper Steve Boundouris, and buried a kick into the corner of the goal.

With the score tied at two in the second half, Favaloro got his third goal on a penaly kick, rolling a ball easily past the keeper into the left corner of the net.

The Bulldogs conclude the season with an overall record of 2-11-2, while going 0-7-1 in the CUNYAC.  Although the record did not reflect it, the team played very competitive soccer throughout the 2011 season and only graduates one senior from their roster.
