Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Swimming & Diving team edged out borough rival the Lady Bears of St. Joseph's College – Brooklyn, by a score of 49-46, at Brooklyn Technical High School earlier tonight.
With the win, the Bulldogs even their record to 1-1 overall on the season, while the Lady Bears also move to 1-1 overall on the year.
BC opened the meet with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay, as the quartet of
Jenny Lee,
Megan Pendergast,
Valentina Monroy and
Stephanie Caravello recorded a time of 2:17.04.
Pendergast and Monroy each had a strong individual showing as well, as the duo both posted a pair of first place finishes in the meet.
Coming in the 200 Free, Pendergast touched the wall with a time of 2:25.66, while in the 500 Free she finished with a time of 6:40.73.
In the 200 IM, Monroy was best with a time of 2:44.43 and in the 100 Fly she was the first to touch the wall with a time of 1:15.61.
Angela Redekop took home a first place finish in the 1,000 Free with a time of 16:27.56, while Lee rounded out the first place finishers for the Bulldogs in the 100 Back with a time of 1:14.86.
In total, Brooklyn took first place in seven of the 11 events.
BC will be back in action on Saturday, November 19th, as the Bulldogs will host the Panthers of the College at Old Westbury at the West Quad Center Pool beginning at 12:00 pm. Both the Brooklyn Men's and Women's teams will be in action in a double dual meet.
