Men’s Tennis Falls to SUNY Purchase, 9-0

Box Score

Purchase, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Tennis team dropped a non-conference match earlier today to the Panthers of Purchase College, 9-0, in Purchase, NY. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 0-2 overall on the early season, while the Panthers improve to 2-1 on the year.

The Panthers opened the match sweeping all three doubles matches to jump out to an early 3-0 lead. Trailing 7-2, sophomores Anthony Chan and Matthew Micharlsen showed their resiliency at the #1 doubles flight cutting their deficit to 7-4, before eventually falling 8-4.

Freshman Deshi Wu made his collegiate debut for BC at the #6 singles flight. Wu came out on fire taking the first set over his opponent Ben Ekis 6-3. However, Ekis would not go down lightly, as he would battle back to win the second set, 6-1, forcing a third set tiebreaker. Ekis would eventually edge out Wu in the tie breaker 10-5, as host Purchase would go on to the 9-0 victory.

The Bulldogs will be back at it tomorrow, Friday, March 18th, as Brooklyn will play host to the Bearcats of Baruch College in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) match. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 pm at the BC Tennis Courts.
