Bronx, NY – The Brooklyn College Softball team swept a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) doubleheader over the Lightning of Lehman College on Thursday afternoon at South Field, by scores of 12-0 and 6-2. With the wins, the Bulldogs improve to 11-12-1 overall on the season and 8-3-1 in conference play; while the Lightning fall to 2-12 overall on the year and 2-8 in league play.

Brooklyn scored early and often in the opener, jumping out to a quick 6-0 lead after the first inning. The Bulldogs would add another run in the second and five more in the third, as BC would go on to cruise to the 12-0 win. The game would end after five innings due to the run rule.

Freshman hurler Marie Oneto tossed a gem shutting out Lehman, going the full five innings, allowing just four hits, walking one and striking out six.

Freshman Allison Donovan was solid at the plate going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scored. Donovan's big hit of the day came in the third with a three-run homerun to spark the five-run rally in the inning.

Sophomore Norah Marley went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and a run scored, while freshman Meagan Cranston drove home a pair of runs and also scored a run, going 2-for-3. Marley's two-run double in the top of the first helped fuel BC's six-run rally, as the Bulldogs would bat around the order. Senior Ashley Allen also had a multi-hit game going 2-for-3.

In game two, the Bulldogs would again jump out to an early lead scoring a run in both the third and fourth innings and two in the fifth to go ahead 4-0.

The Lightning would plate two runs in their half of the fifth to cut their deficit in half, 4-2; however, Brooklyn would tack on two more in the sixth to go on to the 6-2 victory.

Freshman Tara Diesel picked up the win, tossing a complete game, allowing two unearned runs on four hits, while walking two and fanning eight over seven innings. Diesel also helped herself out at the plate, going 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Donovan once again came through for Brooklyn, going 2-for-4 with an RBI in the nightcap. Cranston also had another multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Brooklyn is back in action on Sunday, April 17th, as the Bulldogs will play host to Sarah Lawrence College in a non-conference twinbill at Monsignor Crawford Field.
