Jamaica, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Tennis Team (2-9, 2-6 CUNYAC) won their second straight on Friday afternoon as they traveled to York (3-11, 1-6 CUNYAC) to knock off the Cardinals 5-4.
The Bulldogs started the match by winning two of three doubles matches. Brooklyn's Qing Hui Tan and Cheyne Tribbey paired up to defeat Justin Mo and Jay June 8-0 at #2 doubles. Anthony Sideris and Mubashir Bilah teamed up at #3 doubles to knock off York's Trevon Phillips and Jiahao Zhong 8-4.
In singles play, BC was able to take the #2, #5 and #6 matches to clinch the 5-4 win.
Tribbey and Bilah each won their singles matches as Tribbey defeated Zhong 6-4, 6-1 in their #5 showdown, while Bilah edged Mo 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) in a #6 singles match.
Vesna Tan went to three sets to defeat June, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, and clinch the match for the Bulldogs, who wrapped up their conference schedule.
With the win BC wrapped up the #7 seed in the upcoming CUNYAC Championship. In one of their final tuneups before the tournament, Brooklyn will travel to Sarah Lawrence on Monday for a 6:30 pm match.
