Madison, NJ --- The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team dropped a non-conference matchup earlier today to the Devils of Fairleigh Dickinson University College at Florham, by a score of 3-2. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 0-3 on the year, while the Devils improve to 2-4 overall on the season.
Brooklyn would jump out to an early 1-0 lead, as sophomore
Pajtim Gjonbalaj notched his first goal of the season at 6:46. Gjonbalaj finished last season tied for the team lead in goals.
The Bulldogs would maintain their lead until the 31st minute of play as the Devils would find the equalizer on a corner kick, as Anthony Scarcone found the back of the net assisted by Emin Matezic.
The game would remain knotted at 1-1 heading into the halftime break.
FDU-Florham would take its first lead of the ballgame on a header from Brent Hasko in the 50th minute to give the home team a 2-1 advantage, as Sean Mosser assisted on the goal with the throw in. Florham would never look back again, as Matezic gave the Devils a 3-1 lead in the 66th minute, putting a cross from Brian Nazari past the keeper.
Junior
Denton Laing would later cut BC's deficit to 3-2, scoring his first career goal as a Bulldog in the 76th minute. However; that's as close as Brooklyn would get, as the Devils defense kept the Bulldogs off the scoreboard the rest of the way.
“Plagued by injuries, we came up against a fit and strong FDU -Florham team,” said head coach
Rawle Hensford. “I am proud of the guys that stepped up and filled the many voids. However, we were a bit relaxed in and around the 18-yard box on free kicks and paid for it after scoring two quality goals. We will look to tighten up these loose ends in our next contest.”
For the game, Florham outshot Brooklyn 28-7 and also held the corner kick advantage 10-2. Brooklyn was whistled for 16 fouls, while Florham was called for 12 fouls.
Sophomore goalkeeper

Brooklyn is back in action this Monday, September 19th, as the Bulldogs will travel to Hackettstown, NJ to take on Centenary College. Start time is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
