Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Tennis Team picked up their most lopsided victory of the season on Thursday evening as they eased their way to a 9-0 victory over borough foe St. Joseph's College. The win was the Bulldogs' second of the season, while the Bears remain winless on the year.
Brooklyn went up quickly, taking all three doubles matches with relative ease. The most competitve match was in the #2 flight, as Brooklyn's
Anthony Sideris and
Robin Varughese got by Kevin Diaz and Danny Content, 8-4.
Matthew Micharlsen and
Yeshen Shang were slightly more efficient playing #1, as they defeated Mohammad Ali Bhatti and Vinny Rossy, 8-2.
Cheyne Tribbey and
Mubashir Shabil Billah shutout St. Joe's pair of Jan Rogowska and Simon Diaz, 8-0 in their #3 match.
Varughese, Tribbey and
Deshi Wu each won their singles matches by scores of 6-0, 6-0, defeating Rossy, Danny Zaretsky and Kevin Diaz.
Micharlsen and Bhatti played the most competitive match, as Micharlsen battled back from a 3-0 deficit in the first set to win the #1 singles match 6-3, 6-3.
Sideris topped Ragowska 6-0, 6-1 at #5, while Shang blew past Simon Diaz 6-1, 6-2, in the #6 match.
Brooklyn will be back in action tomorrow as they host CCNY at the Roosevelt Courts beginning at 3:30. The match will feature senior day festivities as seniors
Matthew Micharlsen and
Mubashir Shabil Billah will be honored.
