Men's Tennis Edged By Sarah Lawrence 5-4

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Tennis Team fell on Saturday afternoon to Sarah Lawrence College in a non-conference match.  With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 1-8 on the season, while the visiting Gryphons improve to 2-1.

Brooklyn started strong in doubles as Mubashir Shabil Billah and Deshi Wu got the first win of the day, knocking off Aman Banjeri and Alberto Sandoval 8-3 at #3 doubles.

Sarah Lawrence evened the overall score when Nate Currier and Phil London edged out BC's Matthew Micharlsen and Yeshen Shang in #1 doubles, 9-7.

The #2 doubles match wa the last to be decided as Robin Varughese and Marvin Gill needed a tiebreaker to defeat Phil Naess and Elliot Warkus, 9-8 (7-5).

Play remained competitve in singles play as Micharlsen (#1) and Shang (#6) picked up wins for BC, while Sarah Lawrence's Naess (#3), Warkus (#4) and Benerji (#5) each won their singles matches, tying the overall score at four with just the #2 singles match yet to be completed.

In that match, they Gryphons' Phil London won the first set 6-3, but Brookyn's Robin Varughese fought back to take the second set 6-4.  While it was closely contested by Varughese, London was able to pull out the third set 6-4 and emerge victorious, clinching the match for the visiting squad.

The Bulldogs will look to get back into the win column next week as they travel to NYU Poly on Wednesday and then to Rutgers Newark on Friday.
