Bronx, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Tennis team dropped a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) contest on Monday afternoon in the Bronx, NY, as the Bulldogs fell to the Lightning of Lehman College by a score of 7-2.
With the loss, Brooklyn falls to 0-10 overall on the season and 0-5 in the CUNYAC; while Lehman improves to 2-9 overall on the year and 1-5 in conference play.
The Lightning took a 2-1 advantage after doubles play, as Lehman took wins at both #1 and #3 doubles, by scores of 8-1 and 8-6, respectively. The Bulldogs tandem of
Davis Zabiyaka and
Yeshen Shang gutted out a tough 9-8 (7-5) win at #2 doubles.
Zabiyaka would also take home a win in singles play, coming out victorious at #2 singles, 6-3, 6-1; however, that would be the lone BC win in singles action, as the Lighting took wins at #1, #3, #4, #5 and #6 singles, en route to their 7-2 victory.
Brooklyn will be in action again tomorrow, Tuesday, April 16th, as the Bulldogs will take on the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island, in another CUNYAC contest. The match is scheduled for 4:00 pm at the Roosevelt Courts on the BC campus.
