Men's Soccer Records Second Consecutive Shutout Victory, Defeating Berkeley 4-0

Box Score Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer Squad had a nice non-conference victory at Brooklyn College Field on Monday as they ended Berkeley College's six-game win streak, 4-0. The Bulldogs improve to 4-3 on the year while the Knights fall to 6-2.

BC got a well-rounded effort, getting two first half goals and then adding a couple more in the second for the shutout victory, their second straight.

Brooklyn got their first score on a beautiful header from freshman Gabriel Navarez, who took a Kenny Benitez cross and found the net for the 1-0 advantage in the 15th minute of play.

Six minutes later, the Bulldog's Dmitry Prokofyev converted on a penalty kick, giving his team a 2-0 advantage that lasted for the remainder of the half, giving BC a sizeable lead heading into the break.

Prokofyev got the scoring going in the second half for BC as he scored on another penalty kick in the game's 50th minute. Prokofyev made a nice move to get by the Berkeley keeper, who tripped him and was called for the foul.

In the 56th minute of play, Prokofyev made a beautiful pass along the ground to a streaking Benitez who lofted a kick over the keeper's head to give Brooklyn a commanding 4-0 advantage, the eventual final score.

"We played a complete game today," said BC Head Coach Rawle Hensford. "More importantly, we once more showed that we can dig deep and fight when we are under pressure from a good team."

The Bulldog's remain at home on Wednesday as they host conference foe Hunter at 4 pm. The game will be whiteout night, as the first 150 BC fans will receive a BC Bulldogs t-shirt.
