Women’s Basketball Cruises Past Medgar Evers

Box Score Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball team made the short trip up Bedford Avenue on Wednesday evening to take on City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) and borough opponent Medgar Evers College.

The Bulldogs led wire-to-wire and had 11 players score in the game, as the visitors cruised to the 71-31 victory, improving to 14-5 overall on the year and 7-3 in the CUNYAC. With the loss, Medgar Evers falls to 2-17 overall on the season and remains winless in league play at 0-11.

The win for BC also gives the Brooklyn the season sweep over Medgar Evers, as the Bulldogs defeated the Cougars, 79-33, back on December 13th at the West Quad Center.

Senior Megan Campbell led all scorers with a game-high 19 points, to go along with seven rebounds. Junior Carissa Williams added nine points, while classmate Nicole Francomano had a solid line with seven points, four rebounds, five assists and eight steals. Junior Asia Foster grabbed a game-best 10 rebounds, to go with six points.

For the Cougars, Nia Tompkins led the team with 15 points.

The Bulldogs shot 33.8% (25-74) from the field, including 30.4% (7-23) from three. BC also shot 66.7% (14-21) from the line. Turnovers played a key role to the Brooklyn win, as the visitors scored 31 points off of 40 Medgar Evers turnovers.

The Cougars shot 24.4% (10-41) from the field, 25.0% (2-8) from beyond the arc and 69.2% (9-13) from the charity stripe.

Brooklyn will next take on the Lightning of Lehman College in another CUNYAC matchup this Saturday, February 1st. Tipoff is scheduled for 12:30 pm at the West Quad Center. The Bulldogs will look to sweep the season series against the Lightning, as BC outgunned Lehman, 96-88, back on January 4th at the APEX.
