Box Score 2 Montclair, NJ --- The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball team (8-17) dropped a pair of matches on Saturday at the Montclair State University tri-match, falling to host MSU in four sets, 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 25-13, 25-23), and losing to Moravian College in straight sets, 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-14).
In first game of the day for BC against MSU, the Bulldogs were led by sophomore
Francesca LoCascio's team-high 10 kills, while hitting .308. She also added six digs. Juniors
Sasha Roopchand and
Yelizaveta Malysheva finished with five and four kills, respectively. Freshman
Jessica Yin dished out 14 assists, to go with five service aces, four digs, two kills and two block assists. Sophomore
Christolia Butler was solid at the net with one block solo and three block assists, to go with three kills, while freshman
Monineath Pen contributed with nine digs.
For the Red Hawks, Melissa Terpstra had an impressive day with 24 kills and 18 digs, both match-highs, to register a double-double. Erika Gerner also recorded double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs. Angela Campo dished out 30 assists, while Kimberly Matlock also helped to pace the offense with 12 assists.
The match saw nine ties and four lead changes throughout the four sets.
In the second match, LoCascio again led BC with eight kills (.350), to go with two aces, three digs and a block. Malysheva added six kills, while Roopchand contributed with four kills. Yin again paced the offense with 20 assists, to go with eight digs, while senior
Fanny Ng recorded 14 digs.
Moravian was led by Mary Zacher's eight kills, while Kelianne Camitalo added seven kills (.357). The Greyhounds totaled 37 kills (.235) in the match with nine players registering at least one kill. Megan Szkolnicki posted 27 assists, four kills and seven digs, while Jean Markovic chipped in with 16 digs.
The teams combined for 17 ties and nine lead changes throughout the three sets.
Brooklyn will return to the court on Monday, October 13th, as the Bulldogs will take on conference rivals John Jay College of Criminal Justice (2:00 pm) and The City College of New York (CCNY) (4:00pm) as part of the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) multi-match, hosted by the College of Staten Island.
