Box Score New York, NY --- The #5 seeded Brooklyn College Bulldogs fell short in the quarterfinals round of the 2014 City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Women's Volleyball Championships on Tuesday night at Nat Holman Gymnasium against the #4 seeded Beavers of The City College of New York (CCNY), losing in straight sets, 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-14).
Brooklyn ends the season with a 12-21 overall record, while CCNY moves to 11-23 overall on the year and advances to the semifinals round on Friday, November 7th. The Beavers will take on #1 seed Hunter College at 6:00 pm at ARC Arena at Baruch College. Hunter defeated #8 York College, 3-0 (25-12, 25-5, 25-15), in their quarterfinals match.

Francesca LoCascio's team-best eight kills on a solid .500 hitting percentage. Senior
Daniza Pina finished the night with six kills. Freshman
Jessica Yin paced the offense with a match-high 19 assists, to go with seven digs and three kills. Junior
Sasha Roopchand contributed with nine digs and three kills, while senior
Fanny Ng chipped in with a team-high 10 digs.
For CCNY, Leticia Marotti carried the Beavers with a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs, both match-highs. She also added a match-best seven service aces and a solo block and block assist to account for an impressive 21.5 points. Saye-Chantl Joseph added seven kills, five digs and a solo block, while Kathlen Dos Santos dished out 17 assists, to go with four aces. Katarzyna Urena hit .417 with six kills, to go with six digs and a bloc assist.
The first set saw the Beavers score the first six points of the match, as the home team would never trail in the set. Brooklyn would jump out to a 3-0 lead in the second set; however, CCNY would rattle off a 10-3 run to take a 10-6 lead. The Beavers would eventually squeak out a 25-23 win to take a commanding 2-0 lead.
The third set would again see CCNY jump ahead early, as the Beavers took an 8-1 lead. Similar to the first set, the home team would never trail in the set as CCNY would take an eventual 25-14 win to complete the straight sets victory.
