Box Score Riverdale, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team dropped a hard-fought game against regional powerhouse New York University on Saturday night at Gaelic Park by a score of 1-0. With the loss, BC opens the season at 0-1, while NYU improves to 2-0 on the year.
The game featured a scoreless battle through the first 87 minutes of action until the Violets found the back of the net on a long cross from freshman Zane Van De Put to classmate Nicolas Notaro, who headed in his first goal of the young season past the diving goal keeper.
Making his BC debut, sophomore transfer
Ilya Keygen recorded eight saves in goal for the Bulldogs, while playing all 90 minutes. His counterpart, sophomore Lucas Doucette stopped both shots on goal faced over 90 minutes to register the shutout.
For the match, NYU controlled the tempo outshooting Brooklyn 22-5, while also holding the corner kick advantage, 15-0.
The Bulldogs were whistled for 12 fouls, while the Violets were called for 15 fouls.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday, September 3rd, when BC will travel to Purchase, NY to take on the Panthers of SUNY Purchase. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start time.
