Box Score 2 Bronx, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball team swept a pair of City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) matches on Saturday at the CUNYAC Multi-Match hosted by Lehman College, defeating the College of Staten Island, 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-15), and Medgar Evers College, 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-16).
With the wins, BC improves to 3-7 overall on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
In their first match of the day against CSI, the Bulldogs were led by
Yelizaveta Malysheva, who registered 10 kills, to go along with six service aces.
Anna Li added nine kills, while
Francesca LoCascio chipped in with six kills.
Jessica Yin paced the offense with 23 assists, while
Vera Zhuk contributed with eight digs.
Coming against Medgar Evers, Zhuk recorded eight kills, while
Christolia Butler finished with seven kills. Yin once again led the offense with 14 assists, while
Fanny Ng chipped in with seven digs. Serving played a key role to the BC win, as Malysheva drilled six aces, while Yin and
Daniza Pina each tallied five aces. As a team, the Bulldogs totaled 21 aces, while also hitting .423 (29 kills, seven errors, 52 total attacks).
Brooklyn will return to action this Tuesday, September 16th, as the Bulldogs will host the Cardinals of York College in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) matchup for their 2014 home opener. The game is scheduled for a 6:00 pm start time. The first 200 fans in attendance will receive a free t-shirt. Doors open at 5:15 pm.
