Box Score Purchase, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team surrendered a pair of second half goals, as the Bulldogs suffered a 2-0 loss on Wednesday night against the Panthers of Purchase College. With the loss, BC drops to 0-2 overall on the year, while Purchase, the preseason favorites to win the Skyline Conference, improve to 2-1 overall on the season.
The first half featured a defensive battle as the game went into the halftime break scoreless with neither team able to get on the scoreboard. The Bulldogs held a slim 6-3 edge in shots, while the Panthers owned a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The second half saw Purchase turn the tables and outshoot Brooklyn 7-5 in the period. The Panthers would eventually breakthrough in the 63rd minute, when Andres Romero passed to Eli Wilson-Berkowitz, who was able to get the home team on the scoreboard.
Purchase would strike again just a minute later in the 64th minute, when Myles Clohessy sent a cross to Junio Sanguina, who made it 2-0.
The game would remain 2-0 in favor of the home team the rest of the way, as the Panthers would go on to record the shutout victory.
Sophomore
Ilya Keygen made two saves in net for Brooklyn playing all 90 minutes, while his counterpart Uriel Milechberg also played all 90 minutes and recorded five saves to preserve the shutout.
Brooklyn returns to the pitch on Friday, September 5th, as the Bulldogs will participate in the Stockton College Seashore Classic. BC will open against host Stockton on Friday at 5:00 pm and take on The College of New Jersey the next day, Saturday, September 6th at 3:00 pm.
