Box ScoreBrooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Tennis team (3-3) fell to the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers-Newark (1-1) in a non-conference match, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon at the Roosevelt Courts on the BC campus.
Rutgers-Newark took the early lead in the match by posting wins in two of the three doubles matches. The visitors would then take five of the six singles flights en route to their 7-2 win.
For Brooklyn, the tandem of
Stanley Purcell and
Trevaughn Daley edged out a hard-fought victory at #1 doubles that went to a tiebreaker, 9-8 (11-9).
Charles Stevens would account for BC's lone singles win at #1 singles, as he came back to win 1-6, 6-1, 1-0 (12-10), in a third set super tiebreaker.
Brooklyn returns to action on Tuesday, March 31st, as the Bulldogs will travel to the USTA in Flushing, NY to take on the Bearcats of Baruch College in a CUNYAC matchup. The match is scheduled for a 4:00 pm start time.
