Box ScoreJamaica, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Tennis team (5-6 / 3-2 CUNYAC) defeated the Cardinals of York College (0-8 / 0-5 CUNYAC) on Tuesday afternoon in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) action by a score of 8-1 at the York College Courts.
The Bulldogs took an early 3-0 advantage by sweeping doubles play, as the teams of
Elliot Haddad and
Charles Stevens,
Albert Benjamin and
Alan Esses and
Andrew Mendelsohn and
Jordan Ovadia took #1, #2 and #3 doubles, respectively.
Brooklyn would build on its momentum from doubles play by taking five of the six flights.
Haddad won at #1 singles, 6-1, 6-2; while
Jonathan Chevinsky (6-0, 6-0),
Stanley Purcell (6-0, 6-0),
Trevaughn Daley (6-1, 6-3) and
Marvin Gill (6-1, 6-0) were all victorious in their singles matches at #3, #4, #5 and #6, respectively.
Brooklyn will continue with CUNYAC play tomorrow, Wednesday, April 15th, as the Bulldogs will take on the Hawks of Hunter College. The match is scheduled for a 6:00 pm start time at Alley Pond Tennis Center in Middle Village, NY.
