Box ScoreBrooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Tennis team (4-5, 2-2 CUNYAC) fell to the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island (5-1, 5-0 CUNYAC) by a score of 7-2 in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) action on Monday afternoon at the Roosevelt Courts on the BC campus.
The Dolphins took two out of the three doubles matches to take a crucial 2-1 lead heading into singles play. CSI would build on its momentum from doubles play into singles, as the visitors would go on to take five of the six flights en route to its 7-2 win.
The bottom three singles flights would all go into third sets as #4 through #6 singles featured back-and-forth action throughout the match. BC's
Stanley Purcell would account for the Bulldogs' lone win in singles, as he outlasted CSI's Andrew Adia, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, at #4 singles.
The duo of
Elliot Haddad and
Charles Stevens teamed up for BC's lone win in doubles play, as the tandem defeated the Dolphins' pairing of Ed Ruffe and Adia, 8-4, at #1 doubles.
Brooklyn returns to action this Sunday, April 12th, as the Bulldogs will take on the Devils of Fairleigh Dickinson University - College at Florham in a non-conference match. The match is scheduled for a 12:00 pm start time at the Roosevelt Courts.
