Box Score Old Westbury, NY -- Yesterday, The Brooklyn College Men's soccer team defeated the SUNY Old Westbury Panthers on Tuesday, 2-1, for their second consecutive win. With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 2-1 on the year while Old Westbury falls to 0-5.
Early on in the first half, freshman
Sertac Altun headed the ball into the net past Old Westbury's keeper, Peter Sicardi, with an assist from
Valentyn Kharko.
Shortly after, the Panthers responded with a goal from Tana Weekes, evening the score to 1-1.
Going into the second half the score remained, with both teams eager to get another goal. Time was ticking, and plenty opportunities presented themselves for both the Bulldogs and the Panthers. With seconds remaining in the second half,
Valentyn Kharko cashed in on one final opportunity, with the help of newcomer
Kevin Pluviose.Â
Goalie,
Ilya Keygen made six total saves for the BC Men's team, contributing to the win. The Bulldogs travel to Alabama this weekend, where they will take on the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe University, this Friday, Septmebter 18, at 7:30 p.m., as they compete in the BSC Invitational in Birmingham.
