Women's Basketball Cruises to Third Straight Conference Win at John Jay

New York, NY---The Brooklyn College women's basketball team rolled to their third straight CUNYAC victory, 66-45, this evening at John Jay College to improve to 5-1 overall on the season and 3-0 to start conference play.  John Jay drops to 0-8 and 0-4 in CUNYAC.  Brooklyn will have a two week break before traveling to Daytona, FL to participate in the Land of Magic Tournament where they will take on the University of Mary Washington on December 28 and Maine Maritime on December 29.  The Bulldogs will then return home on January 3 to host Buffalo State at the West Quad Center.  Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm.  

Leading 14-13 at the end of the first period, the Bulldogs went on an 11-0 run to start the second period capped by an Olivia Colbert lay-in and a foul three-point play.  The Bloodhounds cut the BC lead to as little as seven points a little later in the period, but the Bulldogs ended the first half with a 10-1 spurt to take a commanding 41-22 halftime lead.  

Brooklyn kept their foot on the gas to start the second half, extending their lead to 29 with a 10-0 run in the first three-plus minutes of the third period.  The Bulldogs would cruise through the rest of the contest, leading by as many as 34 points with a little under six minutes to play in the game.  

The Bulldogs capitalized on the Bloodhounds' 36 turnovers, scoring 34 points.  BC also dominated the Bloodhounds on the offensive boards grabbing 23 to John Jay's nine.  

Sophomore guard Alexandra Moogan led a balanced Bulldog scoring attack with a game-high 17 points.  She also grabbed seven rebounds on the night including four offensive boards.  Junior guard Karen Mak finished with a solid overall performance finishing with eight points, seven rebounds, eight assists, and four steals.  

John Jay was led Dana Nicholson's 13 points.
