Women's Volleyball Falls in Both Matches at Rutgers-Camden Tri-Match

Camden, NJ---The Brooklyn College women's volleyball team suffered a pair of losses at a tri-match hosted by Rutgers-Camden this afternoon. In their first match of the day, the Bulldogs fell to the host, 3-0 (25-8, 25-13, 25-20).  The Bulldogs closed out the day with a 3-1 (25-23, 25-15, 18-25, 25-15) non-conference loss to fellow CUNYAC member, John Jay. Brooklyn moves to 13-10 after today. The Bulldogs will look to bounce back locally at St. Joseph's College Brooklyn on Tuesday. 

Match Notes vs. Rutgers-Camden

-The home team jumped on the Bulldogs early, taking a 5-0 to start the match. RUC continued to roll through the first game including a ten-point rally. 
-It would be a similar story in the second game with Rutgers jumping ahead early and building on an already sizeable lead. 
-BC would finally come around in the third game, taking a 5-1 lead to start. BC would lead 18-14 down the stretch before the Raptors went on a five-point swing to retake the lead, 19-18. After BC tied the match on the next point, RUC closed out the match by scoring six of the next seven points. 
-BC was led by senior outside hitter Sarina Rozek's five kills. 

Match Notes vs. John Jay

-The first game was close throughout.  Trailing 19-15, the Bulldogs would rally for four straight to tie the game. The Bloodhounds closed out the game with three straight scores including a pair of kills. 
-BC would jump out to an early 4-1 lead in the second game.  John Jay clawed their way back early in the game, and forced the Bulldogs to play catch-up thanks to a 7-0 run giving them a 15-9 advantage.  The Bloodhounds closed out the game with six straight scores. 
-Brooklyn avoided the sweep in the third game. Trailing the Bloodhounds 12-10, BC rallied for seven unanswered points to take a 17-12 lead. Following a John Jay score, the Bulldogs rallied for four more points. Junior middle hitter Lucy Yazikova put the game away with a kill. 
-John Jay controlled the entire fourth game beginning with a 5-0 run. 
-Brooklyn was led by junior outside hitter Michaela Appel's 16 kills.
