Brooklyn, NY---Sloppy at times, but the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team made key plays towards the end of games to shutout CCNY, 3-0 (25-13,25-21,25-14) this evening in their CUNYAC at the West Quad Center. The Bulldogs were led by junior outside hitter
Michaela Appel's match-high 14 kills and four service aces. BC improves to 15-10 overall and 6-1 in CUNYAC. CCNY dropped to 3-17 and 1-6. The Bulldogs have four matches remaining this season including their regular season conference finale at Lehman on Tuesday.
Match Notes
-The teams played it close in the beginning of the first game before the Bulldogs created separation with a five-point rally beginning and ending with Appel kills. With BC leading 22-13, three straight Beaver errors ended the game.
-The Beavers were in control most of the second game, keeping a slim lead. Trailing 20-19, the Bulldogs rolled for five straight points including an Appel kill and a pair of Appel service aces.
-BC cruised in the third game, jumping out to a 3-0 advantage. A Sarina Rozek kill gave BC a 24-14 lead down the stretch before a CCNY error ended the match.
-Junior outside hitter
Pik Ka Tang finished with a match-high three blocks.
-Senior outside hitter Sarina Rozek finished her evening with 10 kills.
-Freshman setter
Kate Meltsin led the way with 16 assists.
-The Bulldogs finished with a .160 hitting percentage to CCNY's -.065.
