New York, NY---The Brooklyn College women's volleyball ended their season this evening, falling to John Jay Jay College, 3-0, in an action packed CUNYAC Championships semifinal at Hunter College. Brooklyn College closes the season with a 17-13 overall record, the best mark in recent history for the program. John Jay moved on to the CUNYAC Championship match at 8:00 pm to take on host and No. 1 seed, Hunter College, which beat No. 4 seed Baruch College in the second semifinal this evening.
Match Notes
-Following John Jay's win in the first set where the Bloodhounds rallied late to take a 20-15 and hold a later Bulldog run, BC would lead 19-13 in the second set. However, the Bloodhounds clawed their way back, tying the match 24-24. John would end the set with a kill.
-On the brink of elimination, the Bulldogs would once again jump out to an early lead and keep a 19-13 advantage. John Jay would rally once again and tie the set, 24-24, following a three-point rally. The teams would trade points to remain tied, 26-26. The Bloodhounds took the lead with a kill on the next serve before winning the match on a BC attacking error.
-The Bulldogs were led by CUNYAC Player of the Year
Sarina Rozek's 14 kills. She also finished with match-highs in service aces (3) and blocks (3). CUNYAC First Team All-Star and fellow outside hitter,
Michaela Appel, added 10 kills. Appel also finished with a team-high 15 digs.
-John Jay's Brittany Steele led both teams with 16 kills and 17 digs.
