Jamaica, NY---The Brooklyn College women's volleyball team improved to 3-0 in CUNYAC play this evening, defeating York College, 3-0 (25-19, 25- 9, 25-11), on the road. BC improved to 6-4 overall with the win and snapped a four-game skid in the process. The Cardinals dropped to 0-8 and 0-3 with the home loss. Brooklyn returns to action at the College of Staten Island on Saturday where they will take on the host in a non-conference match and William Paterson University.
Match Notes
-With BC in control the majority of the first game and leading 23-14, York would make a late five-point run to cut the Bulldog lead to 23-19. However, following a York service error, junior middle hitter,
Quaneisha Wiley, closed out the game with a kill.
-The Bulldogs cruised in the second game thanks in-part to nine unanswered scores, jumping out to a 20-6 lead. Junior outside hitter
Michaela Appel closed out the game with a service ace.
-The Bulldogs would find themselves trailing 8-2 in the beginning of the third game. BC would tie the game 8-8 with a six-point rally. The Cardinals responded by taking a 10-8 lead on the next two points, but BC would take the lead for good beginning with a five-point run and ending with a 12-point rally.
-Senior outside hitter
Sarina Rozek led the Bulldogs with a match-high nine kills. Wiley and Appel finished with seven kills a piece.
-Rozek also led the match in digs (7) and service aces (5).
-Freshman setter
Claudia Moi led the match with 21 assists on the evening.
