Whittier, CA---Trailing by eight points with 6:39 left in the contest, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team would rally late to overcome Whittier College, 67-61, in its first of two games in California this evening. BC improves to 4-4 with the quality non-conference win while Whittier moves to 5-4 with the loss at home. The Bulldogs will have the day off on Saturday before closing out their trip against Chapman University on Sunday, 12/30, at Whittier College.
How It Happened
-With the home team leading 55-47 with 6:39 remaining in the game, the Bulldogs would tie the game, 59-59, with 2:28 to go on a lay-in finished by senior forward,
Jasmine Hansgen. Brooklyn closed out the contest on an 8-2 run, going 6-6 from the free-throw line in the final two minutes of action.
-The Bulldogs held Whittier to 34.6% from the field including 16.7% from beyond the arc in the second half. Brooklyn shot 48.1% from the floor in the final twenty minutes of play.
-Despite being out-rebounded 14-9 on the offensive boards, BC out-rebounded the Poets 38-33 for the game.
-Brooklyn trailed by as many as 11 points in the second period before going on a 14-2 run to close out the half, taking a 32-30 halftime lead.

-Sophomore forward
Chanel Jemmott scored a game-high 21 points to go along with a game-high 15 rebounds for the contest's only double-double. Senior guard,
Alexandra Moogan, and sophomore guard,
Taylor George, scored 19 points a piece while combining for BC's six made threes on the evening.
-George also dished out a game-high six assists.
Leading the Poets
-Teani White scored a team-high 20 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
-Monica Hanna added 17 points and grabbed five rebounds.
