New York, NY---The Brooklyn College women's volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 (25-6, 25-15, 25-18) sweep of CCNY this evening to improve to 2-1 in CUNYAC play. BC improves to 4-1 overall on the season with the conference win. CCNY drops to 3-5 and 1-2 in CUNYAC with the loss at home. The Bulldogs will be back on the court on Saturday,September 15, at the College of Staten Island in a non-conference tri-match against CSI at 11:00 am and Old Westbury at 1:00 pm.
Freshman setter,
Ezri Shor, who was named CUNYAC Rookie of the Week on Monday, led the way with a match-high 15 kills. Freshman outside hitter,
Eugenia Ossadtchaia and senior outside hitter,
Michaela Appel, finished with five kills apiece. Sophomore setter,
Kate Meltsin, finished with a team-high 15 assists.
The Bulldogs dominated the first game, jumping out to a 15-1 lead to start the match. They finished the game with four straight scores.
Brooklyn jumped out to another big lead in the second game, 8-1. CCNY chipped away at the BC lead, but the damage had already been done. BC closed out the second game with a kill put away by middle hitter,
Megan Ortiz-Mengedoht, and service ace hit by Meltsin.
The Bulldogs found themselves in a close game in the third. Leading 19-17 down the stretch, the Bulldogs rallied for four straight scores including three kills and a service ace. Shor ended the match with a kill set by Meltsin.
CCNY's Dzeneta Harambasic finished with 15 assists and seven digs for the Beavers.
