Women's Volleyball Wins Two More at CSI Tri-Match

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College women's volleyball team is off to its best start in program history, winning both matches of a non-conference tri-match today at the College of the Staten Island.  In the first match, Brooklyn pulled out a dramatic 3-2 (25-20, 25-22, 21-25, 17-25, 15-13) win over the host before defeating Old Westbury, 3-1 (21-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-20), to end the day.  Brooklyn improves to 6-1 with the victories.  The Bulldogs return home on Tuesday, September 18, for a local non-conference match against St. Joseph's College Brooklyn.  Opening serve is set for 7:00 pm.

In the first match of the day, the Bulldogs jumped out to a two-game to zero over the Dolphins.  However, CSI stormed back to tie the match 2-2, forcing a deciding game to fifteen.

With the final game tied 11, BC took the lead for good with back-to-back kills put away by senior, Michaela Appel, and then freshman middle blocker, Sara Lulanaj.  Following a CSI score the Bulldogs won the match with two more consecutive kills, again starting with Appel, but this time ending with freshman setter, Ezri Shor.  Shor ended the match with a career and match-high 19 kills.

Sophomore setter, Claudia Moi, finished with team-highs in assists (26) and digs (25).

After dropping the first set to Old Westbury, the Bulldogs won the next three sets for the victory.  In the third set, Brooklyn would rally for five straight scores to take an 18-11 en route to a 25-20 win and advantage in the match.

Finding themselves trailing the Panthers 15-12 in the fourth set, the Bulldogs unloaded for ten straight scores to take a commanding 22-15 lead down the stretch.  Appel ended the second match of the day with a kill set by Shor.

Appel finished with a match-high 16 kills. Shor set for a match-high 21 assists.
