Camden, NJ---The Brooklyn College women's volleyball team had its five-match winning streak snapped today at a non-conference tri-match hosted by Rutgers-Camden. In its first match of the day, the Bulldogs fell to the host, 3-1 (21-25, 25-11,25-12, 25-19) before dropping its second match of the day to Wilkes University, 3-0 (16, 13, 18). Brooklyn returns to conference play at home on Tuesday, September 25, against Baruch College at 6:00 pm.
After battling to a 25-21 win in the first set of the day, the Raptors turned it around in the next three sets. The Bulldogs had a chance to take the fourth set and force a fifth only trailing the home team, 21-19, down the stretch, but the Raptors closed out the match with four straight scores.
Senior outside hitter,
Michaela Appel, led the Bulldogs against the Raptors with 12 kills and 18 digs. Freshman setter,
Ezri Shor, put away 10 kills and set for 11 assists.
In the second match of the day, thing started off well for the Bulldogs beginning with an Appel kill and an ace served up by
Eugenia Ossadtchaia, but Wilkes University (10-4) responded with multiple rallies the rest of the way.
The Colonels hit .306 to the Bulldogs .072 for the match.
Appel led the Bulldogs in the second match as well finishing with seven kills. Shor added five kills to go along with four assists and 12 digs.
