Brooklyn, NY---Starting the new year on the right note, the Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team defeated visiting Hunter, 62-51, improving the Bulldogs to 2-0 in CUNYAC play. Brooklyn fell behind by as many as 11 in the second quarter, but outscored the Hawks in the second, third and fourth quarters to claim the win.
How it Happened
-Trailing 20-9 in the second, Brooklyn went on a 15-7 run to end the first half, keyed by six points from senior
Jasmine Hansgen.
-Brooklyn continued to seize control of the game in the fourth, as they scored the first seven points of the quarter, erasing a two-point deficit and taking a five point lead.
-After a long stretch of scoreless basketball,
Grace Martinez-Espina has the games biggest basket, a bank-shot runner with 2:46 remaining that gave Brooklyn a seven point lead and control of the game.
Leading the Bulldogs
-Hansgen had game-highs of 13 points and 13 rebounds, while also leading all players with 3 blocked shots.

Taylor George started slowly, but scored 9 in the second half for a total of 12 points on the evening.
-Starting point guard
Michelle Pena saved her best for the second half, chipping in all nine of her points and all four assists in the second.
-Martinez-Espina chipped in with a season-high 10 points and 7 boards.
Up next for Brooklyn
The Bulldogs will face another conference foe on Saturday as they travel to the Bronx to battle Lehman. Following the Lehman game, Brooklyn will return home for a matchup with the only other conference team still undefeated in league play, Staten Island.
