Taylor George's 25 points, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team defeated host, Alvernia University, in the Alvernia Tip-off Tournament championship game, 70-54, this afternoon. The Bulldogs improve to 3-0 with the win while handing the Golden Wolves their first loss of the season as they go to 4-1. Brooklyn will look to keep it going on the road at St. Joseph's Brooklyn on Wednesday, November 20, at 7pm.
Game Summary
-Never trailing in the game, the Bulldogs jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first two minutes of action. The run was capped by back-to-back made threes drained by freshman sisters,
Sarah James and
Ericka James. With the Bulldogs leading 19-5, the home team buried a three just before before time expired in the first quarter.
-Brooklyn kept the Golden Wolves at bay the remainder of the first half and through the third quarter.
-The Bulldogs blew the game wide opened in the fourth quarter, leading by as many as 23 points with 3:27 to go.
-Brooklyn shot 11-30 from beyond the arc to Alvernia's 6-21.
-The Bulldogs out-rebounded the Golden Wolves 15-8 on the offensive boards to outscore Alvernia 16-5 in second chance points.
-Four of BC's starting five reached double-figures in scoring for the game.
Leading BC
-George's game-high 25 points came on 8-16 from the floor and 8-10 from the charity stripe. She also grabbed four rebounds. Geroge would be named Tournament MVP for her efforts this weekend.
-Junior forward,
Chanel Jemmott, had the game's only double-double finishing with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Ericka James was on fire from beyond the arc shooting 5-7 from three to finish with 15 points while also grabbing four rebounds.

Sarah James chipped in 10 points on 4-7 from the floor including 2-5 from behind the arc.
Leading Alvernia
-Torie Zerbe scored a team-high 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
-Julia Ewen scored nine points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out five assists.
