Brooklyn Edges Hunter for Big Conference Victory, 5-4

Box Score USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center---For the first time since 2008, the Brooklyn College men's tennis team defeated Hunter College this evening, 5-4, to improve to 4-1 in CUNYAC.  The Bulldogs improve to 5-5 overall with the big conference victory while Hunter College drops to 3-5 overall and 3-2 in the conference.  The Bulldogs take a break from conference action to travel to Rutgers-Newark this Friday for a non-conference match at 3:00 pm. 

Hunter took a 2-1 lead following doubles play.  BC's No. 2 doubles pair, Julian Calame-Mars and Jonathan Lum, gave the Bulldogs their lone doubles win, 8-6, over Hunter's Jose Agregado and Nicholas Caicedo.  

Brooklyn sophomore, Rohan Mathur, continued his strong play at No. 2 singles, defeating Hunter's Sean Kemp 6-3, 6-4.  The Bulldogs received stellar play from the bottom half of the lineup to secure the team victory.  BC's Jonathan Lum defeated Jose Agregado 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 4 slot.  At No. 5, Christian Pena defeated Nicholas Caicedo 6-0, 6-3.  Remi Lawrence wrapped things up with a 7-5, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.
