USTA National Tennis Center---Advancing to the CUNYAC Championships semifinal for the second year in a row, the No. 3 seed Brooklyn College men's tennis team dropped a heartbreaking 5-4 decision to No. 2 seed College of Staten Island. The Bulldogs close out the 2019 season with a 7-9 record while the Dolphins improve to 11-2 and will take on No. 1 seed for the conference title on Saturday evening at the USTA National Tennis Center.
Coming down to the final match of the evening, CSI's Matthew Vesci defeated BC's
Justin Vasquez (2-6, 7-6 (9-7), 7-4) in a third set tiebreaker thriller at the top flight in singles for the team victory.
Trailing the Dolphins, 2-1, after doubles play, the Bulldogs took a 3-2 lead after
Rohan Mathur defeated Ivi Selenica (6-2, 6-2) at the No. 2 position and
Jonathan Lum rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Matthew Kotlyar at No. 4 Flight singles. Play would was temporarily suspended due to rain and the match was moved indoors to Queens College with the Bulldogs leading 3-2.

Christian Pena gave Brooklyn its final win of the evening over CSI's Lesly DeCastro (6-2, 4-6, 7-5) at No. 6 singles. Brooklyn junior,
Julian Calame-Mars, fell in a tie-breaker battle at the No. 3 flight to the Dolphins' Raymond Hwang (6-7 (7-4), 6-3, 3-6).
Mathur and freshman,
Remi Laurence, gave Brooklyn its victory in doubles at the No. 2 slot over CSI's Vesci and Tao Lin, 8-3.
