Brooklyn, NY---Rolling through the first two games, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team picked up its first win of the season at home this evening defeating SUNY Maritime, 3-1 (25-10, 25-9, 18-25, 25-16). Brooklyn moves to 3-3 with the victory while Maritime drops to 1-4 with the non-conference loss. The Bulldogs remain home on Thursday, September 12, to host Purchase College at 7:00 pm.
Match Summary
-The Bulldogs cruised through the first two games, hitting an efficient .435 as a team in the first game.
-Maritime made things interesting by taking the third game despite Brooklyn's late push to cut the Privateers' lead to 17-15 after trailing 14-9.
-Brooklyn regained its momentum in the fourth game and thanks to four-score rally to take an 11-5 lead, the Bulldogs were able to maintain a comfortable cushion to close out the match.
-Three Bulldogs reached double-figures in kills and BC finished with 16 service aces to the Privateers' three.
Leading BC
-Sophomore setter,
Ezri Shor, led the way with match-highs in kills (13) and assists (25).
-Freshman opposite,
Ashley Fung, and freshman outside hitter,
Madison Cronk, finished with 12 kills and 10 kills respectively.
-Sophomore outside hitter,
Alejandra Chen, notched a match-high 12 digs.
Leading Maritime
-Celyna Custodio had a team-high 11 kills. Custodio also had match-high five blocks.
-Erika Kirchner set for a team-high 18 assists.
