Jamaica, NY----Already having clinched the CUNYAC Regular Season Championship, the Brooklyn College women's basketball made the title even more significant by finishing a perfect 12-0 in conference play with Tuesday's win at York, 63-30. The Bulldogs improve to 18-3 overall with the win while York drops to 7-9 and 6-6. BC will close out the regular season at Purchase College on Thursday for a non-conference matchup before hosting a CUNYAC Championship semifinal as the #1 seed on Tuesday, February 22nd.
Four out of five Brooklyn starters reached double-digit scoring, led by
Chanel Jemmott's team-high 17 points. Brooklyn junior forward,
Ericka James, managed a double-double on the evening finishing with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Senior center,
Sarah Labiner, flirted with a double-double finishing with 10 points and nine rebounds to go along with five blocked shots.
The Bulldogs clamped down on defense all evening, keeping the Cardinals to single-digit scoring in each of the first three quarters. Brooklyn kept York to 19.6% shooting from the field for the game.
Grabbing the lead from the opening tip-off, the Bulldogs pulled ahead by as many as 42 points at the end of the third quarter.
York was paced by Mac-Dege Dessources who finished with 17 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
