Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team lost their first game since December on Monday night, falling to non-conference Salisbury University, 55-50, bringing the Bulldogs overall mark to 15-3 on the season. The Seagulls improve to 17-4 on the year.
After falling behind by 16 at the half, Brooklyn was able to come all the way back to within two points, 50-48, after a
Sarah Labiner free throw with 4:15 remaining. Salisbury would make a three-pointer, followed by a
Gianna Gotti two, to make the score 53-50, with 2:34 to play. Brooklyn had good possessions the next two times down the floor, but a
Chanel Jemmott three, and Gotti drive were just off the mark, however the defense tightened and the Seagulls could not extend the lead.
The Bulldogs called a timeout with 28 seconds, and were able to get a good look at a three for Gotti, but it was just off the mark. Jemmott had a good chance at an offensive rebound, but a late foul call gave Salisbury possession.
Jemmott was tremendous for BC, scoring a game-high 25 points and grabbing 8 rebounds, while also notching a game-high 6 steals.
Sarah Labiner added 7 points and 8 rebounds.
Dasha Goodman had a team-high 9 boards.
Kylie Webb and Lauren Fortescue paced Salisbury with 12 points a piece.
Brooklyn will return home on Wednesday, as they host Hunter in the final regular season home game, celebrating Senior Night.
