BC Men's Basketball Comes Up Short Against NJCU

Bulldogs Streak Extends to Four

BROOKLYN, New York ----- Coming into their second straight home game, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team would find themselves going against the New Jersey City University Gothic Knights, who have beaten the Bulldogs in their last two previous encounters. Not only did their streak against New Jersey City University go to three, Brooklyn College's losing streak hits four in a row after a closer 67-52 loss.

The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (0-4) are still in search of their first win, while the New Jersey City University Gothic Knights (2-1) have a winning record heading into their next game.

The Gothic Knights would go up by as many as twelve points after both sides had a slow start. With the score 23-11 with 6:14 left in the half, the Bulldogs would slowly begin to chip away at the lead, scoring eight straight points to bring them within four with 4:50 to go before halftime. Shortly after, Muneer Ibrahem would hit a go-ahead three, catapulting the offense with 3:53 left on the clock for the first half, prompting the Bulldogs to attack the basket more and eventually take a tied score of 27-27 into halftime. Muneer Ibrahem would have 16 points, and 3 assists for the game.

It seemed like halftime had awaken something in them, as Brooklyn came out and scored two quick baskets to take their first lead less than a minute into the second half. Up 31-27, New Jersey City would score twelve in a row to retake the lead with 15:15 to go. Though Brooklyn would try and get back in, they would only get as close as eight after a Thomas Hall three,  but would get outscored at the end of the game by an 8-1 run, losing the battle 67-52. Thomas Hall would finish as the leading scorer with 16 points, having a near triple-double with 8 rebounds, 6 steals, 3 blocks, and 3 assists to go with his statline, shooting an efficient 6-for-8 overall and 3-for-4 from deep.

Up next, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team travels out of state to Wayne, New Jersey to face the William Paterson University Pioneers on Wednesday, November 19th at 7:30pm.
