Brooklyn, NY----Announced by Brooklyn College Director of Athletics,
Erik Smiles,
Ardita Shaptafovic has been appointed the new Compliance Coordinator and Senior Woman Administrator for the BC Department of Athletics. Shaptafovic will be responsible for day-to-day NCAA compliance and eligibility related areas for the department. She will also serve as the staff liaison for the BC Student Athlete Advisory Commitee (SAAC).
"I am so excited to welcome Ardita back to campus," Smiles would comment. "She is a former Bulldog and her love and commitment to her alma mater was evident from the beginning."
Prior to her most recent appointment, Shaptafovic served as graduate assistant for compliance with former Compliance Coordinator and SWA, Shelby Thomas, while working on her master's degree in education at BC. She was also serving as a physical education teacher.
"Ardita's knowledge of NCAA rules with her work ethic and organizational skills made her a perfect fit for this position," Smiles would go on to say.
No stranger to Brooklyn College, Shaptafovic graduated from the college with a B.S. in Exercise Science in 2021. She was also a student-athlete during her time as an undergrad, helping the Women's Basketball team to a CUNYAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2020. Shaptafovic served as a Student Assistant following her playing days, assisting with practices, on game days, and social media efforts.
"I look forward to working with the athletic staff and current Brooklyn student-athletes," Shaptafovic would comment.
Very familiar with the CUNY academic system, Shaptafovic came to Brooklyn from Kingsborough CC where she was a two-year member of the Women's Basketball team. She was a 2017 All-CUNYAC selection and also earned the Burt Beagle Sportsmanship award.
"I am thrilled and eager to support our student-athletes and help maintain the department's high standard of compliance with the NCAA's, the CUNYAC's, and Brooklyn College's rules and regulations."
