Box Score Flushing, NY----The Brooklyn College men's tennis team improved to 3-0 in conference with a 6-1 victory over John Jay at the USTA National Tennis Center on Tuesday. BC improves to 4-3 overall while the Bloodhounds drop 1-3 (0-2 CUNYAC) with the loss. Next Up: Brooklyn continues conference play at Lehman on Wednesday, April 8, at 3:30 pm.
Brooklyn took a 1-0 lead by winning two out of three doubles matches on the afternoon.
Giorgi Zhamutashvili and
James Walsh rolled to a 6-1 victory at the No. 1 slot.
Allen Mardakhayev and
Dennis Shender scored a 6-0 shutout at No. 2 doubles.
Zhamutashvili, the reining CUNYAC Player of the Week, won at No. 1 singles (6-4, 6-0). Mardakhayev also had an undefeated day, winning at No. 2 singles (6-4, 6-4). Walsh would only lose one game on the afternoon, rolling to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.
Christopher Vasquez also scored a straight set victory at No. 5 singles (6-3, 6-0).
Dylan Augustin gave BC their fifth win in singles on the day with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at the No. 6 slot.
