Jenny Lee Named November Brooklyn College Female Student-Athlete of the Month
Junior Jenny Lee, a three-year member of the Brooklyn College Women’s Swimming & Diving Team, has once again emerged as one of the top performers posting numerous first place finishes throughout the early season schedule.
Starting off the month at the Sarah Lawrence College Sprint Carnival on November 2nd, Lee helped the Bulldogs to a third place showing out of six participating teams. Lee was a part of the 200-Yard Medley Relay team (third swimmer in relay) that recorded a time of 2:16.26, good for third place. In her individual events, she registered a second place showing in the 200-Yard IM (2:38.02) and a third place finish in the 200-Yard Butterfly (1:14.29). Lee finished the day as a member of the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay team (first swimmer in relay) that finished with a time of 2:00.15, good for fourth place.
In BC’s home opener on November 14th against City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) foe John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Lee had her most impressive showing helping to lead Brooklyn to a 113-82 victory. Beginning with the 200-Yard Medley Relay, Lee was first swimmer in relay that posted a first place finish with a time of 2:10.88. Lee would add two more first place finishes in her individual events, as she was the first to touch the wall in both the 100-Yard Butterfly (1:13.24) and the 500-Yard Freestyle (6:20.97).
Just a few days later in a tri-meet against host Sarah Lawrence College (L, 142-59) and Mount Saint Mary College (NY) (L, 134-67) on November 16th, Lee swam as part of the 400-Yard Medley Relay (first swimmer in relay) that finished in 4:46.98, good for third place, while finishing second in the 400-Yard IM (5:35.56) and fourth in the 200-Yard Butterfly (2:54.19).
On November 19th against another conference opponent, the College of Staten Island (L, 124-105), Lee recorded a solid second place finish in the 1,000-Yard Freestyle (12:50.20), to go along with a six place finish in the 200-Yard IM (3:12.63) and a top finish in the 100-Yard Backstroke (1:10.66)
Coming in Brooklyn’s final meet of the month, an 85-44 win against CUNYAC rival York College on November 22nd, Lee took home her fifth first place showing of the month taking top honors in the 100-Yard Butterfly (1:12.53). She also swam the 100-Yard Breaststroke as an exhibition posting a time of 1:25.50, which would have been good enough for first place if she was scoring.
A Biology major, Lee has also excelled in the classroom boasting a stellar 3.708 GPA.
For her efforts during the month of November, Jenny Lee has been named the BC Female Student-Athlete of the Month.
