Kenny Benitez named September Brooklyn College male student-athlete of the month

Junior mid-fielder Kenny Benitez continues a stellar career for the Bulldogs men’s soccer team by garnering the honor for the month of September. Benitez had a breakout freshman year, after arriving on campus from Leon H. Goldstein High school, and has followed up wtih a strong sophomore, and start to his junior season. 

His performances for the month have helped guide the Bulldogs squad to a 3-5-1 record overall and 1-1-1 record in conference. The junior tallied game-winners against SUNY Farmingdale and City College, both in overtime, to propel his squad to victory. Benitez was named the CUNYAC/MCU Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of 9/7-9/13, after his first game-winner in the overtime win over Farmingdale.

During his tenure at Brooklyn College the team has reached the CUNYAC semi-finals, his sophomore year saw the Bulldogs reach the finals to the tune of a runner-up finish. This year the team has their sights on the ultimate prize of being crowned champions. Naturally, Benitez will be counted on to play a significant role in the broader team goal.

Benitez Has a great feel for the game, his travels in the soccer circles have taken him to the Red Bulls U-14, New York Cosmos U-16, U-18, the Red Bulls U-18, and the El Salvador U-20 national camp. It can’t be understated Kenny has a significant pedigree his technical skills on the ball and tactical vision make the game easier for his team mates. Benitez has seen action at every position on the field during the season so far, that includes stints as a goalkeeper; truly remarkable at 5’7”.
