Women’s Softball player Jaime Bellettini was selected as one of two Brooklyn College Student-Athletes of the Month for April 2008 based upon her individual athletic achievements and team accomplishments. Bellettini was vital in helping the Bridges reach the CUNYAC play-offs after winning a fourth consecutive CUNYAC East Division Title.

Bellettini, who saw action for the Bridges as both a pitcher and a catcher, had a standout senior campaign and further cemented her status as one of the elite players in the CUNYAC. Finishing the season in the conference’s top ten in seven major batting and four major pitching categories, Bellettini led Brooklyn to a 10-8 mark during the month of April. In the pitcher’s circle, Bellettini pitched her squad to CUNYAC victories over City Tech, York, Medgar Evers, and Lehman. In the batter’s box, she posted a .500 batting average for the month (22-for-44), driving in 24 runs in 18 games. For her efforts, she was named CUNYAC Player of the Week On April 21.

“Jaime brings unbridled enthusiasm for the sport of softball,” says her head coach Pete Grillo. A senior Physical Education major who was a three-sport star at Franklin K. Lane HS, Bellettini also competed on the Women’s Volleyball Team at Brooklyn College.
