Junior guard Tyshawn Russell (Jamaica, NY/Holy Cross) is off to a sensational start to the 2010-2011 season for the Brooklyn College Men’s Basketball team.

In the Bulldogs’ five games during the month of November, Russell scored in double figures in four of the five games, while eclipsing the 20-point plateau in two of those four games.

Going up against Capital University (Ohio) in the opening game of the 2010 Marymount University -Marine Corps Tip-Off Tournament in Arlington, VA on November 19th, Russell poured in a game-high 24 points on 10-for-14 shooting from the field, as Brooklyn dropped a heartbreaker, 75-72.

Playing in the consolation game against host Marymount on November 20th, Russell netted 14 points on 5-for-10 shooting, including going 2-for-3 from beyond the arc, helping to lead the Bulldogs to a 62-54 victory. For his efforts, Russell would go on to earn All-Tournament Team honors.

Russell continued his strong shooting performance against Purchase College on November 23rd, as the junior from Jamaica, NY dropped a game-best 23 points on 6-for-12 shooting from the floor, while also going 10-for-14 from the free throw line.

In Brooklyn’s final game of the month, on November 30th against CUNY Athletic Conference and borough rival Medgar Evers College, Russell finished the night with 15 points.

For the month, Russell averaged 16.8 points per game, while shooting 50.8% (30-for-59) from the field and 74.1% (20-for-27) from the charity stripe. He also averaged 2.8 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.8 assists per game, while playing in 34.0 minutes per game.

For his efforts, Russell has been named the Brooklyn College Male Student Athlete of the Month, for the month of November.
